My Journey to Becoming a Mother – The True Story of “Trying to Conceive”
Implantation Symptoms vs. Period (PMS): How to Tell the Difference?
Many women wait for the “two weeks” after IVF or natural attempts — every slight pain, fatigue, or mood swing becomes a hope that “maybe it’s done this time!” 🥹
But this is the hardest time — because implantation symptoms and PMS symptoms are so similar.
Let us understand this in simple language.

🕒 1️⃣ Timing
🔸 Implantation: This occurs 6 to 12 days after
ovulation . If your cycle is 28 days, it usually occurs between day 20 and day 26. That’s about a week before your period date .
🔸 PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome):
Symptoms begin 5 to 7 days before
your period, between the 21st and 28th day .
💧 2️⃣ Bleeding
🔸 Implantation bleeding:
- Very light (just a little spot is visible on the tissue).
- Color: Light pink, brown or rust-like.
- Lasts for 1 to 3 days.
- No need for pads.
🔸 PMS or period bleeding: - This is the real period.
- The bleeding is more and increases gradually.
- The color is bright or dark red.
- Lasts 4 to 7 days.
🤕 3️⃣ Pain or cramps
🔸 Implantation: - Mild and short-term pain.
- It feels like a slight pricking or pulling sensation.
- It is usually felt on one side of the lower abdomen
. - The pain is severe and persistent.
- Can go to the waist, back or thighs.
- Lasts for 2–3 days.

🧠 4️⃣ Differences in other symptoms
| symptoms | Implantation | PMS |
| Tiredness | light | normal or high |
| mood swing | lightweight | more irritability |
| Breast pain | Mild swelling or sensitivity | Excessive heaviness and pain |
| hunger | May increase slightly | Strong cravings for sweet or salty foods |

✅ 5️⃣ When to do a pregnancy test? 12–14 days after
ovulation , or 1–2 days after your period , take a home pregnancy test using your first morning urine .
🌸 Remember,
every woman’s body is different.
Not everyone experiences or feels implantation.
So stay calm, believe in yourself, and never give up hope. 💖
