IVF is a medical procedure that allows childless couples to enjoy parenthood. But the process is painful. 
Let's talk about this dilemma today. 

Today we talk about what happens in IVF and what medicine is given. 
After meeting with an IVF consultant for the first time, you have some blood tests, which are done using a thin needle, and you also have an ultrasound. Both tests are painless. Men are also tested for sperm quality & quantity, which is a normal procedure. 

What happens once IVF is started?

Upon starting IVF, the woman begins ovarian stimulation, in which an injection is given under the skin at the same time every day. After ten to twelve days, a different injection is given, which is called a trigger; this is also given under the skin. Both injections are liquid-based, and hence they are not painful. 

Then comes the day for Ovum pick-up.  

In this procedure, It is assured that no incision is made; the eggs are removed by a simple but long needle with the help of ultrasound. This procedure is under anaesthesia for a short duration, so that the process is entirely painless. The woman is able to go home in 4-5 hours. Some women may have abdominal pain for which analgesics can be administered; it is advised not to do heavy work for a few days.

What is done in embryo transfer ?

After this, on the right day when your uterus is ripe with good endometrium, the embryo developed in the incubator is put in the woman's womb; this process is called embryo transfer. In this process, the foetus is inserted into the uterus through a thin tube with the help of ultrasound Without anaesthesia, the woman can go home after some time. This is a painless procedure; in some women in whom the passage of the uterus is narrow, this procedure is done under anesthesia.

After this, the woman can  do her daily housekeeping activity; just do not try to do any heavy work and God willing, you can get the good news of becoming a mother after 14 days.

Is there more injection after getting pregnancy-positive?

After conception, some injections may need to be taken, which can be taken by self at home; this will help increase the chances of pregnancy.
